2020 is here! Gym memberships spike, summer trip ideas get thrown around, and many people begin wondering in January how they can be ‘ready’ for June.

We can all agree that diet + exercise is necessary, and most have heard that diet is even more important than how many days per week you’re working out.

There are so many “diet” options! With all the information out there, it’s difficult to know which one is best for you. Forget all the details of the diet for a moment and let’s simply get to what’s important for your to get to where you want to be.

Huge red flag!!

Negative-self talk decreases motivation and raises the risk of increasing stress levels, which unfortunately leads to your body hanging on to excess fat. You may also begin consuming fattier foods due to stress-eating. The diet danger-zone. Stop fighting against your body and start working with yourself.

Thoughts + Feelings.

Exercise and eating habits are heavily reliant on our minds and our emotions. Does it feel good? Does it make me happy? Does this make sense to me? If you can say “YES!” to these questions, you will be more likely to stick to it.

If you’ve chosen a diet that leaves you feeling dissatisfied, cranky, or it’s simply too frustrating to maintain for your lifestyle, you will be much less motivated to continue. You enter the diet danger-zone. You may end up blaming the diet; or if you’ve seen that others that did get results from the same diet, you may end up blaming yourself.

Here are 3 questions to ask yourself at the beginning that will predict end-results:

  1. Do I want to eat this way?

  2. Do I feel good eating this way?

  3. Can I maintain this way of eating for 3 weeks?

All of the answers to these questions should be “YES!” If not, review your options. Consult with a fitness pro or nutrition expert to help you evaluate your lifestyle, foods you like and don’t like, and reasonable adjustments you can make to help choose diet guidelines that work for you.

Research continues to show the major factor in weight loss is the simple question: are calories out greater than calories in. In other words: do I consume fewer calories than I burn?

The method used to solve this problem is up to you.

The goal is to balance of commitment + enjoyment. Yes, you will have to stick to some guidelines to achieve results; and yes, you will have to enjoy it to make it last.

This journey can be simple, enjoyable, and effective. Reach out to me if you’ve been searching for the right guidelines that will fit your lifestyle and the results you want!
